Railtown has found a format that works. Rooftop, a sound system that does not embarrass itself, and a crowd that is not trying too hard. In Vancouver in June, the sunset runs around 9:15 PM, which puts golden hour right in the middle of a 7 PM start. That timing alone is worth the trip.
I have been to a few of these. The view east over the rail yards and mountains holds up. Go for the light first, stay for the music.

Film walk along Broadway. Mustafa runs these with real attention to the process rather than the Instagram output. The format is simple: you bring whatever film camera you own, show up, and walk with people who actually care about what they are doing. No gear gate, no pressure to shoot anything specific.
There is something clarifying about a 36-exposure limit when you are used to shooting unlimited digital frames. It forces decisions. This is the kind of walk you think about differently at the end of a roll than at the end of an SD card.
