Amazon Alexa Tablet 11 in Canada: Price, Specs and Release Date

Here is the sentence we did not expect to write this month: Amazon’s new mid-range tablet might be the one Canadians should actually buy. The Alexa Tablet 11 costs $449.99 CAD with 64GB of storage, or $529.99 with 128GB, was announced October 8, 2026, and ships from Wednesday, October 14. It sits between the compact Alexa Tablet 8 and the flagship 12 Pro, packing a 2.5K 90Hz display, 8GB of RAM and the full Google Play Store into a 466 gram aluminium body that can take a splash.

Pre-orders are open on Amazon.ca in three colours, including a Matcha green we suspect will sell out first. Here is the full Canadian picture based on Amazon’s announcement and the live listing.

The US price starts at US$329.99, so like the Tablet 8, the Canadian price tracks a normal exchange conversion rather than carrying a border tax. At $449.99 it undercuts every current full-size iPad while shipping a sharper-than-Full-HD display, which is not a sentence Amazon has been able to say before.

Two upgrades separate the 11 from the smaller Tablet 8: the screen and the memory. The 2.5K panel at 276 ppi is sharper than most laptops, the 90Hz refresh makes scrolling noticeably smoother, and 8GB of RAM means app switching holds up far better than on a 4GB device. The IP52 rating is a small but real first for a mid-range Amazon tablet: it survives splashes and spills, which anyone who has killed a device at a kitchen sink will appreciate.

What happened to the Fire Max 11 in Canada?

Amazon’s last 11 inch tablet, the Fire Max 11, was never properly stocked in Canada. Canadians who wanted one needed cross-border workarounds, and it ran the same app-limited Fire OS as the rest of the Fire line. The Alexa Tablet 11 fixes both problems at once: it launches directly on Amazon.ca on day one, and it runs Android with the full Google Play Store. If you searched for the Fire Max 11 in Canada over the past few years, this is the tablet you were actually waiting for.

Alexa+ on the Alexa Tablet 11 in Canada

Alexa+ works fully in Canada, and has since June 2026: free for Prime members, $27.99 per month plus tax without Prime. It runs in English and French with real-time switching, it is tuned for Canadian life (CBC News, hockey, regional expressions), and on the Tablet 11 it drives the Dynamic Tab suggestions, the For You feed and hands-free conversations that keep flowing without a wake word for every request.

The optional On-Screen Intelligence feature lets Alexa reference what is on screen. It is off by default and clearly indicates when it is listening or looking, which matters if the tablet will be shared around the house.

Kindle Mode and battery for Canadian readers

Amazon rates the Tablet 11 at up to 15 hours of video playback, and up to 20 hours of reading once you open the Kindle app and it switches into Kindle Mode: notifications silenced (with a bypass for chosen contacts and apps), blue light reduced, and three paper-style display themes, Ink Paper, Color Paper and Standard, across full-screen two-page layouts. For students and commuters, the combination of an 11 inch 276 ppi screen and a full day of battery makes a credible case against carrying both a tablet and an e-reader on the GO train or the Metro.

Our take: if you are buying one tablet for the household, this is probably it. The 8 is the budget pick and the 12 Pro is the work machine, but the 11’s screen-to-price ratio is where most Canadian buyers will land. The $449.99 entry price at FX-parity with the US makes it the easiest yes in the lineup.

Alexa Tablet 11 vs the rest of the lineup

  • Against the Alexa Tablet 8: $150 more buys the sharper 2.5K 90Hz screen, double the RAM and Dolby Atmos speakers. If the tablet will leave the house with you, spend it.
  • Against the Alexa Tablet 12 Pro: the 12 Pro adds a 120Hz 2.8K panel, a Dimensity 8400 chip, quad speakers, keyboard and stylus support and a $300 premium. The 11 covers everyday use; the 12 Pro is a laptop companion.
